Various things you can do, if you are experienced in 3d-cad applications, post your work online in various interior design communities for comments/inspiration.
You can also practice in real life situations by finding potential interested clients. Craigslist is a great site to find individuals i your local area who may be interested in your services. You may even want to advertise your services there - it's free of charge!

collect design books and mags for inspiration,
design your dream room or home with all the trimmings,
find out if anyone knows of anyone who needs a room or home decorating and you could need help,
know all about what colours and moods, fabrics go together and what way the room is facing as the sun set/rise plays an important part in the feel and finish of the room, start to notice faults and dislikes in homes you visit (but not too outloud some people like there decs???!!!)
have your own perticular taste and style .but be sure to create the mood for who ever your client is, its there home after all.
