Do You Know A Studio Where I Can Do Some Freelance Art Work As An Internship?

I’m a college student majoring in Fine Arts and I want to intern at some of the best magazines like Cosmogirl but the problem is that they requiere computer graphic skills which I don’t have any.
I tried with other magazine websites and they all demand the same thing (mostly Photoshop and Illustrator). I just wish I should’ve taken at least the intro course to computer art once…all I know is to do art in traditional medium (pencil, charcol, ink, etc.)
Do you any studio where I can rent and do freelance art as an internship or an art-related community service center? It has to be located in New York City.

  1. I guess I find your question a bit confusing because an internship doesn’t usually involve freelance work or renting a studio. An internship to me means that a company is hiring you on a temporary basis for little or no money in order for you to get experience in an industry–because of that you usually work at the company’s office.
Photoshop & Illustrator are definitely skills you will need to have. You can download free evaluation copies at http://www.adobe.com
I’d suggest downloading them and teaching yourself how to use them. The help files on both of those programs give pretty good explainations of how the software works.
    Good luck!
